Principles
These are the beginnings of our story and the values that have inspired us since 1970, when Ermanno Casoli invented the first range hood. Since then, innovation, design, and a constant quest to push limits have continued to guide every decision we make. Every product we create.
Elica was founded in 1970. Two years later, it unveiled the first kitchen range hood in Paris, and in the same year, it signed its first contract with Philips. Success was immediate; the company’s rise was meteoric.
A veterinarian creates the first range hood.
His name is Ermanno Casoli: a visionary with a passion for art, he would soon become an unforgettable entrepreneur. In 1978, the founder passed away prematurely; his wife and son Francesco inherited the company, its burdens, and its responsibilities.
From father to son, the same tenacity.
In 1990, Francesco Casoli became CEO. Under his leadership, the Elica Propulsion Laboratory was established. In 1982, Lego was launched — the built-in cooker hood created in collaboration with Giorgetto Giugiaro.
Fire
It is the fire of a devastating blaze and of a burning determination: to start over.
In 1995, flames razed the Fabriano plant to the ground. The response came through the “Phoenix Operation,” which rebuilt it in just a few months, thanks to the help of all the employees.
It is the fire of passion for art: the Ermanno Casoli Award is born
In 1997, the award named after our founder and his indissoluble bond with art was established. Since then, it has been awarded to artists with a particular sensitivity toward social and labor issues.
It is the fire of initiative and the desire to grow.
In 1998, the Mergo plant was built. In 2001, Elica acquired a controlling stake in FIME, a leader in the design and manufacture of motors. In 2004, Om, the first vertical range hood, was launched.
Grandi
In just a few decades, Elica achieved a remarkable feat. It expanded, opened new locations, created products never seen before, and went public. It established itself as the leading Italian company in the global kitchen ventilation systems market.
Star, Euronext Star, and the Ermanno Casoli Foundation.
In 2006, Elicais listed on the Milan Stock Exchange in the Euronext STAR segment. Star is also the name of the first chandelier-style range hood, launched that same year. In 2007, the FEC was established in honor of the founder.
From Italy to Europe, from the Far East to South America.
In 2002, Elica established the Ariafina joint venture in Japan. In 2006, it opened a manufacturing plant in Mexico. Between then and 2018, it opened subsidiaries in Poland, France, Spain, Germany, and Russia. In 2022, EMC FIME was founded. In 2025, Elica opened its subsidiary in Haren, the Netherlands
This is our mantra, expressed through a new identity and exceptional products. We launched the NikolaTesla cooktop hoods and invented Lhov, which gave rise to the Cooking collection: state-of-the-art ovens, wine coolers, range hoods, and cooktops.
NikolaTesla. First cooktop hoods, first Compasso d’Oro
In 2016, the NikolaTesla range of cooktop hoods was launched. With the One HP model, the company won its first Compasso d’Oro in 2018.
Lhov. The shape of Extraordinary
The first All-in-One solution on the market. Oven, cooktop, and ventilation finally together in a single appliance. Cutting-edge features, smart interface, exceptional design.
Compasso d’Oro 2024 and 2025
Design is at the heart of every project. And so, in 2024, Lhov brought Elica its second Compasso d’Oro. In 2025, the Group also won its third, with the AriaChef Pro.

Today, the Elica range consists of appliances designed to bring high-quality aesthetics and professional-inspired features into every kitchen.
Historic Brand of National Interest
A recognition obtained in 2024, when Elica was entered into the Register of Historic Brands established by the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy.
